I used to be a pretty bad mother, and back then I did not care about myself, or anyone else. I used to take from everyone, I was even stealing from my own family.
Well, about two years ago I hitchhiked to San Francisco. Never been there before, but a lot of the street kid community is family there so the people are real nice.
I came to Eugene in 1968. I’m 1 of 5 children out of Santa Cruz California. My parents divorced in 1969 – which left my mom single with five children.
Well here we are, it’s the beginning of 2010, and only the names have changed. I live on the streets. I’ve been homeless for over 12 years off and on.
The real truth about being homeless in Eugene is that it’s challenging to keep a positive mental outlook.
